Notice to Home Study and Non-Public School Representatives: ¾«¶«´«Ã½ East School District is inviting Home Study Parents and Non-Public School Representatives to participate in a Special Education Services Consultation Meeting Scheduled for March 20, 2024 at 6:00pm in person at the KESD District Office or Virtually. During the consultation meeting, the LEA will present the child find process, determination of proportionate share, consultation process, provision of special education and related services, and provision of a written explanation by the district regarding services.

Under federal and state law, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the KESD has a duty to locate, identify, and evaluate all children with disabilities residing in Burke, Lyndon, Newark, Sheffield, Sutton, Wheelock, Concord, Gilman, and Lunenburg ages birth through 21. Where a child is found to meet certain statutory criteria, the school district has a duty to provide certain educational services and/or modifications and accommodations so that the child may receive a free and appropriate public education as defined by law.
